Quinn Lloyd was selected to the Player of the Week Honor Roll, junior
Michael Banks was named Defensive Player of the Week Honor Roll, and freshman
German Rodriguez was tabbed Rookie of the Week Honor Roll. The Gaels went 2-1 over the weekend, with a 19-4 win over Penn State Behrend, an 11-10 overtime defeat to Cal Lutheran and a commanding 16-9 win over Connecticut College.
Over the three games, Lloyd scored 10 goals on 14 shots and added seven assists. Against Penn State Behrend, he scored five goals on six shots and dished out three assists. In the defeat to Cal Lutheran, the Sinking Spring, Pennsylvania native scored once on three shots. In the series finale, Lloyd tallied a hat-trick on five shots and added four more assists in the 16-9 win over the host Camels. He currently ranks second on the team with 18 goals on 47 shots.
In six quarters of play for the Maroon & Gold, Banks stood strong in net, making 18 saves and allowing 13 goals. Against Penn State Behrend, the Orlando, Florida native made 11 saves and allowed only four goals. To conclude Iona's triple-header, Banks played the entirety against Connecticut College, posting seven saves and two steals in Iona's 16-9 victory. On the season, Banks holds a record of 2-2 with a .523 save percentage.
Rodriguez continued his strong rookie campaign over the weekend, scoring five goals on 10 shots, drawing two kickouts and adding two steals. Against Penn State Behrend, Rodriguez tallied his first career hat-trick on five shots and dished out two assists. Rodriguez did not find the back of the net in the second game against Cal Lutheran on two attempts. In Iona's final game of the weekend, Rodriguez posted two goals and one assist to go along with one kickout drawn and one steal. He currently leads all Iona rookies with eight goals and eight assists.
